Railway News: Transfer Your Train Ticket to Family Members

railway news

The Railway has brought some great news for travelers! Now, any family member can travel using your confirmed train ticket. Often, we come across situations where we need to change our travel plans after booking the ticket, and this may require canceling the ticket. But now, you can transfer your railway ticket to someone else. If you have a confirmed ticket, you can easily transfer it to another person. This means someone else can travel to your place using your confirmed ticket.

To transfer your ticket, make the request at least 24 hours before the train’s scheduled departure. After your request is processed, your name will be removed from the ticket, and the name of the other traveler will be added.

To initiate the ticket transfer, you must take a printout of your ticket first. Then, visit the Railway’s reservation ticket counter with this printout.

At the counter, you can apply for the ticket transfer. You will need to provide the ID proof of the person who will be traveling in your place.

Once the process is completed, you can obtain a printout of the confirmed ticket with the new traveler’s name.

It’s important to note that currently, you can only transfer your confirmed ticket to a family member. This includes your parents, siblings, spouse, sons, or daughters.

This new ticket transfer facility can be very useful for travelers who need to make last-minute changes to their plans or cannot travel themselves but wish to let a family member enjoy the journey using the confirmed ticket.
