Real Madrid Secures 1-0 Victory Against Celta Vigo - Instant Match Review

This season started with many questions for Real Madrid. The squad composition, goalkeeping, forward shortage – everything seemed uncertain. However, from a pure football perspective, it’s been a promising start to the season. Two wins out of two for Los Blancos, who defeated Celta Vigo in their third consecutive game of the season. Bellingham is truly making all the headlines; he’s scored three goals and helped resolve scoring issues in both games, once again starting off from where Rodrigo and Vinicius Jr. left off.

On the other side of the field, Kepa Arrizabalaga replaced Andre Lunin, who had performed well in the club’s first two games. Eduardo Camavinga, who missed out on the starting lineup against Almeria due to a brief injury scare during training last week, had made a full recovery and took Toni Kroos’s place in the lineup. The highly talented Castilla prospect, Nico Paz, once again found a spot on the bench.

The start of the match was a bit odd for Real Madrid; Celta Vigo pressed high and pushed Real Madrid forward, creating early chances. They actually scored a direct goal within the first three minutes of the game, but it was disallowed due to a clear foul on Kepa during the goal build-up. Shortly after, Vinicius Jr. suffered a hamstring injury and was subbed off for Joselu, reducing Real Madrid’s chances further.

Rodrigo managed to dribble past two Celta Vigo defenders and create a beautiful solo run, but his shot was blocked. Fede Valverde was solid defensively in the first half and actively involved in attack on the right flank. The midfield looked strong, although Bellingham seemed to want a more impactful presence for Bellingham. If the offside call against Joselu wasn’t made, it would have been a fantastic assist for him. Celta Vigo also had good opportunities but lacked the finishing touch. The first half ended goalless.

Carlo Ancelotti continued with the same lineup in the second half, but Rodrigo drifted a bit more towards the left side. Meanwhile, Fede Valverde unleashed an attack and combined well with Rodrigo, resulting in a good chance for the Uruguayan player who unfortunately missed the target. Around the 62nd minute, Luka Modric replaced Eduardo Camavinga, playing as a left-central midfielder. Modric played a solid game, providing good defensive coverage. Surprisingly, Toni Kroos was replaced by Aurelian Tuchel, which was a bit unconventional.

Tuchel was doing well, offering defensive stability, but his timely tackle on Cruyff in the box led to a chance for Celta. Around the 66th minute, Rodrigo earned a penalty for Real Madrid as he tried to outmaneuver the goalkeeper, but it was ruled out due to a foul earlier in the play. The Brazilian himself stepped up to take it, but unfortunately, the Celta goalkeeper saved the penalty. Celta Vigo had another good opportunity on the other end, but the shot was off-target. A few minutes later – inevitably – Jude Bellingham found the back of the net with a brilliant header, assisted by Toni Kroos. La Liga’s top scorer and the league’s best player, Bellingham, now has four goals to his name.

The team displayed a solid performance to maintain the lead, and their perfect record continues – three wins out of three. What are your thoughts on this performance?
